LILONGWE--Days after Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) staff returned to work after getting a 25% pay increase, some of the capital city's areas are still dry after irate customers vandalized water works to access water during the strike.
"It is unfortunate that we still can't get water after the strike because people took advantage of the situation to get free water. We can't get a drop from our taps and fixing the vandalized pipes may take ages," complained one Kawale resident.
Water pipes were broken in Chilinde, Kawale, Areas 23 and 36 and Kamuzu Institute for Youth.
Residents broke the pipes when they couldn't get any water after LWB turned off the supply.
