BLANTYRE--What's the fuss about climate change?
Most reporters will probably tell you it’s not a sexy subject worth wasting time and ink on.
Corruption, sex, rights abuses and politics all in their own right move newspapers off the newsstand, all the time.
But Malawi’s Information Minister Leckford Thotho is a worried about the prevailing attitude.
He thinks the media isn't reporting enough on climate change. Instead, the media is full of "sensational" stories of graft, politics and gender based violence.
Thotho told a workshop in the capital Lilongwe organised by the Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA) that the media needs to step up and report more about climate change.
The minister said this was so because climate change was one of the nine priorities in the government backed poverty reduction and economic growth agenda.--maravipost
