BLANTYRE--Lilongwe based singer and dancer Wendy Harawa says she makes mistakes and she should be left alone.
Harawa told The Daily Times’ sister paper Friday in reaction to her arrest by the police on Wednesday in Lilongwe. She was allegedly arrested for bolting with payment meant for Zambian singer, Mampi. She was however released on bail after paying K150,000 of the payment and that she pay the remaining amount by next Wednesday, a development police spokesperson Kelvin Maigwa confirmed.
But when contacted, Wendy, despite admitting that she went to police, said she should be left alone, arguing the paper doesn’t understand the meaning of arrest.
“I have nothing to say and I am not ready talking about this issue since the damage has already been done. You wrote about it on Wednesday, so what do you want to write now.
“I think I make good sales for The Daily Times so let’s just leave it. I am not ready to keep fighting, I just want to be left alone; let me have my time and leave my mistakes,” Wendy was quoted saying by The Weekend Times Friday.
However the police publicist said the singer was slapped with theft by trick charge. She is supposed to pay Mampi, who came to perform in August this year K300,000, according to sources.
She denies the accusations.
