LILONGWE—A man couldn’t take it anymore and had to leave and find somewhere else to live after he was beaten up twice over misplaced personal items.
The man’s housemate in the Dubai Area 49 Mvama community reported him to a self-styled neigbhourhood watch group which descended on the unsuspecting victim.
"The man was accused of stealing his housemate's shoes. [They]…pounded him, dragging him in the mud and soaking him with water, heavily beating him up. They grabbed him from a nearby house where he was engaged in some piecework," confided the source.
But it was later discovered the shoes were simply misplaced by the owner.
This is the second time the same man accused the same victim of stealing his cell phone which was later located among accuser's items.
Neighbours have a theory why this has been happening. The landlord didn’t like the victim and worked in cahoots with his other tenant to get rid of him.
