BLANTYRE: Popular sports commentator Steve Liwewe Banda is alleged to have been "caught pants down" with a 15-year-old girl from Nkolokosa Township in Blantyre, according to the sensational Weekend Times.

Liwewe, who is said to have a radio slogan that ran "Lock up your daughters, the captain of the air is in town," is alleged to have been beaten up by the grandfather of the girl, who is in form 2, after he locked her up in the bedroom and was forced to release her after the she threatened to call police.

The grandfather, who wasn't named in the main story of the paper, is said to have been furious with Liwewe that he tore his T-shirt before neighbours rescued him.

Meanwhile, the girl has gone missing from the grandfather's house apparently due to embarrassment.

Both her grannies are appealing to tell the daughter to return home "so that she can continue with school."

The paper tried to contact Liwewe to hear his side of the story, but he simply answered he wouldn't comment on the issue.

He was busy, Liwewe told the paper.
