LILONGWE—It’s now close to a year since anti-government demonstrations which left 19 people dead in the country.
Here in Lilongwe two banks, First Merchant Bank and Opportunity International Bank of Malawi, were vandalized during the protests and they are yet to recover. It’s not known whether the banks will reopen for business.
The situation has affected residents of Area 23, Chilinde, Kaliyeka, Kamuzu Barracks, Ngwenya, Chipasula, Chiuzira who have to spend more to get banking services.
Anybody out there who can help these people?
