LILONGWE—Pres Joyce Banda will attend this year’s United Nations General Assembly Summit, the State House said Thursday.
A statement said Pres Banda will leave Malawi September 15 for New York where she will, for the first time, address the UN General Assembly.
Banda, who was Malawi’s vice president, assumed power following the sudden death of Pres Bingu wa Mutharika on April 5 this year.
She was inaugurated president on April 7 to finish the remainder of Mutharika’s term in 2014.
