BLANTYRE--The People's Party of Pres Joyce Banda will on August 27 hold its first national conference to elect its members of the executive committee.
The Party's secretary general Henry Chibwana, a former principal of the Polytechnic, said delegates to the conference will come from all corners of the country, and will include current national executive members, provincial committees, women wing and Young Patriots Wing, MPs and ministers.
"Candidates will contest in any position," he said.
This is the first time that the PP, which found itself in government following the death of president Bingu wa Mutharika and the ascendancy to the throne of Banda, will hold its national conference.
Banda is already seen as the torch bearer in 2014, when she will faces a host of presidential candidates.
