Sibling of poisoned prisons’ chief wants Pres Banda 'to say something'

BLANTYRE--Rodrick Chaona, a brother to Macdonald Chaona, the chief commissioner of police believed to have been poisoned last month, wants Pres Joyce Banda to do something about it.

The brother, a soldier at Cobbe Barracks in Zomba, was quoted in Malawi News as saying: "What you should know is that Mr. Chaona was not just an ordinary person, he was the chief commissioner of prisons  and we all want to know what happened or who is responsible.

"We want the president to say something on the matter."

Rodrick added: "We know he was poisoned and we gave the police three names of the suspects who are the two wives and a maid, but up to now we have not heard anything."

Chaona was found dead at his Zomba home on April 21 and a postmortem showed he died of acute poisoning.
