MaraPost LifeStyle was there when a man accused a popular disk jockey of being with his daughter he hadn’t seen for days

LILONGWE--Popular DJ Scarper was arrested this week after a father accused him of keeping his daughter.

The distraught father called the disk jockey who over the weekend was playing at hot entertainment spot Zanzi in the Lilongwe, accusing him of being with his daughter whom he hadn’t seen for some days, since last Friday to be exact.
 
The man, who called several times on Sunday, threatened to report the matter to police if he didn’t let his daughter go.

"Are you not a DJ? Do you not hold DJ shows? I am informed that you are with my daughter [Catherine Kachingwe] and I want her back home right now!”

Surprised, DJ Scarper tried to explain to the man that he didn’t know what he was talking about.

"I’ve been with my wife throughout since Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and this is so shocking that someone is claiming I've been with his daughter. I don't even know the name Catherine Kachingwe," he said.

The DJ explained he’d been to Zanzi since Friday playing at the party for Big Brother Stargame finalist, Watipaso 'Wati P' Kulemeka, who’d just returned home from South Africa where the show was staged.

"I am only glad this is happening while my wife is here and listening for herself, otherwise I would be in big trouble trying to explain this to her. These people are trying to destroy my career and my marriage, perhaps. This is crazy!"

In fact,  the disk jockey travelled to Blantyre Saturday morning accompanied by his wife under the auspices of MultiChoice Malawi to welcome Wati.
 
The man who said was Catherine’s father made good on his threat to report the matter to police if he couldn’t locate her. On Monday, police arrested DJ Scarper and took him in for questioning. He was only released after missing Catherine was located.

Fun-loving Catherine had apparently lied to her parents that she was going to be with Scarper at Nzanzi when in fact she went to Liwonde with her friends.
