MZUZU--Outspoken chairperson of Consumers Association of Malawi (CAMA), John Kapito, was at it again, reiterating that Pres Joyce Banda should resign or call for early elections if she can’t fix the economic problems facing the country.
Calling a spade by its name, Kapito blasted the president, saying she'd failed to provide protections to the people effected of the recent currency devaluation of about 50 percent.
Kapito then said the Malawi leader is a parrot of global lender International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank which he claimed are economically controlling the country.
Kapito made his remarks during Tiuzeni Zoona programme on Zodiak radio on Sunday.
Asked by host Pilirani Phiri if he was bitter at the Banda administration because he wasn't given any position - state house press secretary Steven Nhlale has made the accusation - Kapito, who not long ago was head of state-funded Malawi Human Rights Commission, charecterised as stupid Nhlane's remark.
"I am not bitter," he said. "The problem with the PP government is that it has taken on board the same headless people who instead of tackling real issues hit at the person. They are the new Ntabas and Vuwa Kaundas.”
By speaking out, Kapito has been applauded by many, saying he has taken up the cause of Malawians who are suffering.
