Bingu Tigresses lead as battle continues in OG Issa Netball league

BLANTYRE--As the journey for points continues in the elite OG Issa Southern Region Netball League, Bingu Tigresses leads the log-table after playing two games.

Tigresses have six points ahead of their rivals and league holders, Escom Sisters who have the same number of points but goal aggregate is separating the two sides.

On Saturday, Tigresses were in the class of their own as they went on to demolish Chiradzulu 111 baskets to 3.

Tigresses’ slippery shooter, Sindi ‘Sniper’ Simutowe was a marvel to watch with her scoring skills that made her convert many balls into baskets during the encounter. Other players that gave Chiradzulu a headache were Malawi Queens young and upcoming Lauren Ngwira, Beatrice Kadango and Ellen Chibokho.

Bingu Tigresses Assistant Coach, Charles Mhango has said the two victories were a move in the right direction.

“Our ambition this season is to grab the league having failed to do so last season. We’ll make sure that our players [don’t] lose momentum otherwise we see ourselves dominating,” said Mhango.

However, Bingu Tigresses know they have keep an eye on Escom Sister. They’ve the same same number of points. As Tigresses were busy clawing Chiradzulu, their counterpart, Escom Sisters were also in a scoring mood against Chilomoni.

Escom Sisters punished Chilomoni with a 107-7 margin. Escom Sisters mentor, Griffin ‘Zagalo’ Saenda emphasized that it was too early to judge them with only two games played.

“It’s too early to judge us. Wait for weeks that’s when you’ll see

that we’re on a mission to defend our title,” said Saenda.

In other encounters, MTL Queens beat Chitakale 110-13; Glas Bank won against Aquaid 90-10 while
