BLANTYRE—Suspecting foul play in the death of a 32-year-old man in Ndirande, Blantyre, police have opened a murder probe.
“Postmortem by Dr. Frank Chilingulo revealed that he died of haemologic shock due to ruptured spleen likely following an assault and that’s when a case of murder was opened and investigations are underway,” Malawi News Agency (Mana) quoted police spokesperson Chifundo Chibwezo as saying.
“The deceased’s body was found lying on the ground with no wounds, no bruise or a scratch on the body and we thought it was sudden death, but we discovered black watery substances coming out of the mouth when the body was taken to the mortuary,” he said.
Police say they've strong leads in the case of the victim who was identified as Fanuel Mkusa from Kapichira village, Traditional Authority Pemba in Salima District.
