BLANTYRE--Bangwe police in Blantyre has in custody a 27-year-old Sailesi Yasini for allegedly stabbing his wife to death and injuring his mother in-law for trying to protect her daughter.
The station’s Officer in-Charge Grant Nakari said the two were on bad terms following a dispute that ensued after the mother in-law allegedly tore Yasini’s clothes before walking away with his blankets.
Nakari said Yasini went to police to complain and the station’s victim support unit was handling the issue.
However, Nakari said the complainant went back to police to withdraw the case against his mother in-law a few days ago.
“The officers did ask him not to pursue the dispute. We never expected anything of that nature,” said Nakari.
However the police got a Sunday that Yasini had stabbed his wife to death.
Yasini will appear soon in court to answer charges of murder and grievously body harm, according to the police.
Nakari has since urged the people to avoid such acts saying no one is above the law.
“There are police victim support units where families and individuals can always go to complain and seek assistance and justice where ever necessary to avoid such uncalled for acts,” he said.
