BLANTYRE - Police in Blantyre have arrested Innocent Mlenga for allegedly battering his wife to death last week Saturday.

Blantyre Police Publicist Lameck Thembachako said Mlenga, who is reportedly mentally ill, had a breakdown on the material day he beat his wife to death.

“Mlenga’s relations reported that he had a breakdown on the day and she was rushed to the hospital where she died,” said Thembachako.

He said the police will be sending the suspect to Zomba Mental Hospital for examination and ascertain if he is indeed mentally ill.
“We can not file ca case against him until he is sent to Zomba Mental Hospital and declared fit,” he added.
