Malawi Flames to face Ghana in AFCON qualifier

The Malawi flames have the an envious task of having to face the 33rd FIFA ranked Black Stars of Ghana in the final qualifying round for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The four-time champions will host the Flames of Malawi in the first leg in Ghana over the weekend of September 7-9 with the teams clashing again over the weekend of October 7-9 in Malawi.

The Black Stars true to their reputation are one of the 15 seeded nations which included Zambia, Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan and Tunisia.

The Africa Nations Cup, was held in even-number years since the 1968 finals in Ethiopia, the Cup of Nations switches to uneven-number years from 2013 to avoid every second tournament being held early in the same year as a World Cup.

Uganda must contend with African reigning champions Zambia if they are to grace next year's Nations Cup in South Africa.

The Cranes were paired against the Chipolopolo at the draws held in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday night.

Central African Republic, shock qualifiers for the round-of-30 draw at the expense of Egypt, were paired with Burkina Faso and have a good chance of winning and making a first appearance at the tournament.
