Kanyenda in a do or die test at AmaZulu

Esau-KanyendaMZUZU--South Africa's Premier Soccer League (PSL) side, AmaZulu, are reported to have said they are going to assess Essau Kanyenda in a friendly game against Thanda Royal Zulu this weekend.

According to Soccer Laduna, the Siya crew revealed last week that the Malawian striker had flown into KwaZulu Natal and since then he has been subjected to various assessments from Usuthu's technical team.

The online publication said Fani Madida, the club's assistant coach, admitted that they do have the player training with them and that the game against Thanda would be his chance to impress them and earn himself a deal.

He said: "We will be playing against Thanda on the weekend (this Saturday) and hopefully we will be seeing whether he still has all of the skills that made him one of the best imported players to grace our league when he first came to play for Jomo Cosmos."

Kanyenda, who was nearly snapped by Moroka Swallows the past season, is set to return to the league if he impresses the Usuthu technical team. But it has been said that he is struggling with fitness at the moment.

It’'s a chance Kanyenda will ill afford to put to waste. It’'s now or never. He needs to throw everything into the game and score a goal or two and prove beyond any reasonable doubt that he is not over the hill yet and that he still has the venom that the strike that earned him the nickname ‘Black Mamba’.
