BLANTYRE – Diminutive and enterprising striker, Tony Chitsulo has dumped the central bankers, Silver Strikers to join Mighty Wanderers camp and was spotted training with the nomads on Wednesday.
The nomads are facing the fading giants Escom in the quarter final of Standard Bank Cup first leg at Kalulu stadium in Ntchalo Saturday and there is a likelihood that Chitsulo will feature for the blues.
The striker was until this week playing for the bankers, scoring vital goals for the team. In a game against Moyale, Chitsulo scored a hat trick. The bankers won 5-2.
Daudi Mtathiko, Silver Strikers official, confirmed to have seen Chitsulo on the filed of play during training session. Mtathiko said he went to see for himself.
“I got a call from one Silver Strikers follower that Chitsulo is training with Wanderers and then I went to see for myself. I did established and he is indeed training with Wanderers,” said Mtathiko on Wednesday.
But he could not tell the reason why the player has left the bankers and whether have released him permanently. It is also not known whether money has changed hands following the players move.
However, Mtathiko said they are not worried with Chitsulo’s departure because the team equally has good strikers.
“We gave contracts to over 25 players and we will forge ahead with these players. In fact we have a buffer of strikers,” he said.
