KASUNGU--Kasungu Police (KU) beat Duli Rangers 1-0 in an exciting K5Millon Chipiku Stores Central Region Football League (CRFL) encounter played at St Johns this past weekend.
The cops from Kasungu surprised the host with a commanding John Roger and Uchizi Nkunika`s midfield display. No wonder that hit man Chisomo Chilasa complemented it with a goal, 16 minutes in the second half.
Duli Rangers applied a lot of late pressure searching for an equalizer but Kasungu`s defence lead by Justin Kamanga was difficult to penetrate. Duli continued to dominate when substitute Gomezani Chirwa dragged his header fractionally wide before defender Mika Ntonyo fired from cross range, but the ball merely kissed the cross bar.
KU too had their moment to extend the lead the closest being through Uchizi Nkunika. He dribbled past all players in green and gold and when scoring seemed as easy as breathing Uchizi shot wide.
Coach for Duli Edward Amoni blamed the loss due to lack of concentration as they didn’t put a gallant fight. His counterpart Mike Mhango was all smiles after grabbing four away points.
“We are aiming to earn the promotion into Super League. The team is [has] potential,” said Mhango.
In other results Mponela United beat Nambuma United 1-0 and Support Battalion were victorious over host Mitundu Medicals, 2-0.
