iReport: Namitete Rangers beat KIA Eagles in Carlsberg Cup

KASUNGU--Namitete Young Rangers advanced to the next phase of Carlsberg Cup when they thump KIA Eagle 3-2 in midweek fixture played at Lilongwe Community Centre Ground.

Young Rangers came from behind twice and claimed their goals from Leonard Gomezulu, Mike Gwaza and Kalebe Banda.

KIA Eagles were first to score in 15th minutes after Josepha Gatoma beat an off side trap but Namitete cancelled the lead in 17th minute through Gomezulu. It was 1-1at the end of the first half.

KIA dominated the second half, coming wave after wave with set pieces from Kondwani Thamando which found no body to finish. In 60th minutes Wellington Lali extended the lead after beating an off side trap but in 62nd minutes Mike Gwaza equalized with a header connecting a brilliant free kick from Dadily Nankhumwa. Kalebe Banda sealed the Namitete’s victory in 77th minutes after receiving a ball from Ophen Chimbeta.

Coach for Namitete Joseph Malizani was delighted with the win and praised his players for hard work.
Namitete will meet Airborne Rangers and the winner will join Blue Eagle Reserve, Silver Reserve and Black Eagles. Only six teams from Central Region will join the Super League.
