Silver strikers on Sunday moved to the finals of the K20 million Standard Bank Cup Knock-out after convincingly outclassing their arch-rival Civo United 4-1 at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
Rodrick Gonani scored a brace for Silver Strikers before Charles Banda and Ndaziona Chatsalira hammered the last nail and it was John Lanjesi who scored the consolation goal for Civo United through a penalty kick after a new recruit Chawananga Kaonga was fouled in the 18 metre box to make it 4-1.
Silver strikers will face Mighty wanderers in the finals.
Speaking in an interview after the game, Coach Franco Ndawa was all smiles but was quick to thank God for the victory. “Civo is a good team but I told my boys to play the game according to the instructions and I thank God we have made it.
Coach Alex Masanjala for Civo United admitted that his side did not play well and hence the defeat. Asked as to give his prediction on which side will carry the day during the finals, Masanjala said Silver strikers has a greater chance to win the cup claiming the team is currently enjoying good vein of form even in the TNM super league.
