Infighting continues as BB Northern followers snub main executive

BLANTYRE--As infighting, accusations and counter-accusations continue to fly among Big Bullets followers, the Northern Region Committee of the People’s Team has refused to step down as ordered by Trustee Ruth Chenda Mkandawire.
Mkandawire dissolved the committee Saturday following Bullets’ 2-1 loss to minnow Super Eagles in the Malawi Carlsberg Cup.

Bullets FC, one of the top teams in Malawi, publicly accused their northern region committee of sabotage, saying they were betrayed because of conflict of interest and noted that the majority of those in the Mzuzu executive committee are benefactors of Super Eagles.

But Northern Region Committee Chairperson Martin Uka on Monday said “Trustee Ruth Chenda Mkandawire has no mandate to fire them.”

Uka claimed that Bullets lost the game because the players lost focus as they were loitering in Mzuzu instead of being in camp.

Uka also dismissed as false the allegation that he embezzled the team’s money collected during the Carlsberg Cup game.

He therefore warned retaliation against Mkandawire.

“She has made a lot of mistakes against the club, should she continue exposing us, we will do the same,” said Uka.
