LILONGWE--Former Escom United striker Ndaziona Chatsalira on Sunday, October 28, 2012 secured full points for Silver Strikers as he struck in added time to steer his side to a 4-3 victory over Bvumbwe Research in a TNM Super League match played at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo.
Reports from Nchalo say the bankers from Lilongwe were leading Bvumbwe 3-0 before the researchers from Thyolo executed a spectacular come back to level the scores.
With the game headed for a draw, Chatsalira broke Bvumbwe’s hearts with an added time strike to secure the full points for Silver.
At Civo Stadium, Moyale Barracks recovered from their 1-0 loss against Civo United on Saturday to crush Epac FC in another TNM Super League game played at Silver Stadium.
Striker Gastin Simkonda put the soldiers on the victory trail in the 37th minute after heading in the ball from a corner kick.
The soldiers from Kaning’ina township in Mzuzu led 1-0 at half time and just three minutes after the recess, Steven Mkandawire claimed the second goal, connecting a cross from Simkonda.
Njenjete, as Epac is fondly called, suffered a major blow in their quest for a come-back when their midfield dynamo Ishmael Thindwa was given marching orders for a crude tackle on a Moyale player.
Matters got worse for the hosts in the 74th minute when Moyale’s overlapping defender Mphatso Mhone hit the third after a solo run from the centre line.
Epac coach Abbas Makawa conceded defeat, which he blamed on complacency on the part of his boys: “It was not a difficult game for us. We had chances to win the game but we messed up good opportunities. It looks like the boys were complacent after watching Moyale losing against Civo yesterday,” said Makawa.
Moyale’s Nicholas Mhango attributed the victory to hard work, saying he had told his boys to make sure they did not go back to the north empty handed.
At Zomba Community Centre, Kabwafu FC from Mzimba suffered a second 3-0 defeat in 24 hours as they faced rejuvenated Escom United and at Balaka Red Lions returned to the second position after beating Mafco 2-0.
