MZUZU--Malawi’s sensational World Boxing Forum (WBF) Africa middleweight champion Agnes Mtimaukanena, who last Friday signed a K1.2 one-year promotion campaign deal with a local pharmaceutical company, Pharmanova Limited, has an interesting non-title fight with compatriot Happiness Nkhoma on a date yet to be named in July, the Post has learned.
The bout has been shifted to July to accommodate Nkhoma’s international non-title bout against Kenyan Charity Makaru on June 29 at Robin’s Park in the commercial city of Blantyre.
The last time Mtimaukanena and Nkhoma fought in anon-title amateur bout in 2010, the fight was declared a draw, but this time the heavier and taller Nkhoma believes her opponent will not last he distance.
“For a long time I have longed to fight her but her camp has been elusive with lots of excuses. This time she will not stand the heat,” Nkhoma, who is geared to win her first international fight, said. Mtimaukanena coiuldn’t be reached for comment, but her manager Steve Mawenzi Msiska said his boxer is ready for the showdown with Nkhoma, saying it will be a great fight.
