CEZBALL improving basketball, plans to install floodlights at Civo court

LILONGWE--Central Zone Basketball (Cezball), probably the best organised league in the country, has big plans for baskeball and Civo court.

In an exclusive interview, Bartlett Mafuleka, Cezball’s vice chairperson, told MaraPost Sports the league is working hard to keep the game alive and improve it.

“I think basketball has tremendously improved and amongst all leagues, Cezball is one of the most organised leagues. We have implemented our own initiatives to try and make this game the second most followed sport after football.”

Asked about specific Cezball initiatives, Mafuleka said that they’re focused on the youth and infrastructure development.

“To make our league most exciting we have set strict rules that are followed,” he said.  “For example, we have this rule that each and every team has to feature two under 18 players so that we can give chance to young players.

“We also have a league for the juniors so that the teams can easily spot them.  We believe that in the next two years, the game in Malawi will be on a different level if you look at where we came from. The future is bright.” he said.

Cezball was resourceful and organised entertainment activities to raise money used to improve Civo court. The league has bigger plans.

“We will soon put floodlights here so we could play our games in the evening,” Mafuleka said.
