BLANTYRE--Despite being inspired by professional Mwai Kumwenda, Malawi's Queens netball team narrowly lost 47-43 to their archrivals Proteas of South Africa in the finals of the four-nation Netball Diamond Challenge 2012.
The Queens, who have given pride to Malawi although their international exploits aren’t wholly recognised, will bring home a medal.
Zambia and Botswana were the other two competing nations.
Malawi reached the finals after beating Zambia and Botswana.
Kumwenda, who plies her trade in Australia, the only netball export from Malawi, was the prolific scorer for Malawi.
