Bon Kalindo, a well-known activist group in Malawi, has raised serious concerns over alleged vote manipulation by the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ahead of the 2025 general elections. In a recent Facebook post, Bon Kalindo, also known as “The DC,” claimed that over 2 million Malawians have already “voted” for President Lazarus Chakwera without their knowledge.
Kalindo alleges that this fraudulent voting is being carried out using national identification cards (IDs) collected from rural areas under the pretext of providing food aid and loans. He also suggests that some IDs left behind at immigration offices are being used for the same purpose. According to his post, these IDs are being stored to facilitate rigging in the upcoming 2025 elections.
The activist warned the MCP to brace for tough opposition in the 2025 elections, stating that the party’s plans to manipulate the vote will not go unnoticed. He further hinted at possible unrest if the current government tries to steal the election through vote-rigging tactics. In his bold declaration, Kalindo said, “If you think you can cheat your way to another term in 2025, you are mistaken. We are ready to fight this battle.”
Kalindoโs post also emphasized that the people of Malawi will not tolerate any form of electoral fraud, suggesting that the ruling party may face significant consequences if they proceed with such plans. He signed off his post by asserting his commitment to resist what he perceives as the MCP’s corrupt agenda, calling himself “The DC” and using his signature gesture of raised fists to symbolize defiance.
This post has sparked debate across social media, with many Malawians expressing mixed reactions. Some have voiced their support for Kalindoโs message, while others question the authenticity of the claims. As Malawi moves closer to the 2025 elections, it remains to be seen how these allegations will impact the political landscape.
For now, Team Bon Kalindoโs message serves as a strong warning to the ruling party: the opposition is watching closely, and any attempts at vote rigging will be met with fierce resistance.
