BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera on Friday evening, October 11, 2024 met Malawi Congress Party (MCP) University Wings representatives from various public and private universities at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre.
The attendees were drawn from esteemed institutions, including the University of Malawi (formerly CHANCO), LUANAR, Natural Resources College (NRC), Nalikule, Mzuzu University (MZUNI), University of Livingstonia, Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHes), Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), MAGU, DMI, Domasi, and University of Lilongwe.
Addressing the gathering, Chakwera emphasized the crucial role university students play in achieving Vision Malawi 2063.
He urged the students to demonstrate patriotism and willingness to contribute to the country’s progress. Chakwera also advised the students to cope with challenges constructively, avoiding harmful actions like suicide.
Through his Presidential Charity Golf Initiative, Chakwera is raising funds to support education and ensure everyone stays in school. He encouraged the students to work diligently.
MCP Director of Youth Steve Baba M Kamsiyamo commended the university wings for strengthening the party’s grassroots presence.
Malondela attributed the youths’ motivation to MCP’s inclusive nature, unaffiliated with any particular family.
Hastings Msola, President of MCP University Wings, praised Chakwera for facilitating uninterrupted learning sessions in public universities.
Msola also acknowledged the president’s efforts in increasing upkeep allowances from K200,000 to K560,000 and expanding the number of beneficiaries to 28,000.
On behalf of all university students, Msola vowed to work tirelessly to safeguard Chakwera’s vote in the upcoming general elections.
