The Malawian football community is in shock following the sudden passing of Chitipa United’s Assistant Coach, Gift Nathaniel Mkamanga.
The tragic incident occurred this morning during an ongoing CAF B coaching course at Chiwembe in Blantyre.
Mkamanga collapsed unexpectedly, leaving his colleagues, players, and the entire football fraternity in stunned silence.
His body has been taken to the College of Medicine for a postmortem examination.
Chitipa United released a statement confirming the sad news, expressing profound sadness and shock.
“We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Chitipa United family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
Mkamanga’s Legacy
Gift Mkamanga was a respected figure in Malawian football, known for his dedication and passion for the sport.
As Assistant Coach at Chitipa United, he played a crucial role in shaping the team’s strategy and mentoring young players.

Watson Kabaghe, Chitipa United’s General Secretary, expressed the club’s devastation. “We are still trying to come to terms with this tragic loss. Coach Mkamanga was an integral part of our team, and his absence will be deeply felt.”
Kabaghe urged fans and well-wishers to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time. “We will provide further updates on funeral arrangements and other details in due course.”
