BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Surprise and lost opportunity! On a day that is historical and momentous for the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), when the founder and iconic figure Bingu wa Mutharika’s memorial took place only one DPP Presidential aspirant Dr. Dalitso Kabambe attended the memorial service.
The late Bingu wa Mutharika, who was founding leader of DPP, died on April 5, 2012.
During this year’s memorial service at Mpumulo wabata at Ndata Farm in Thyolo on Wednesday, April 5, other aspirants, including Kondwani Nankhumwa, Bright Msaka, Joseph Mwanamveka, Paul Gadama missed out the event.
This comes barely three months before DPP holds its elective convention in July.
While the memorial service was in progress, DPP Northern Region leaders were holding a news conference in Lilongwe endorsing current party leader Peter Mutharika as 2025 presidential candidate.
The Maravi Post is yet to get the reason why aspirants failed to attend the service.
