Dr Kabambe leads in welcoming Veteran Broadcaster Hope Chisanu’s remains at KIA

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dr. Dalitso Kabambe on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 leads hundreds of Malawians in welcoming the remains of veteran Broadcaster and actor Hope Chisanu’s remains at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) from USA.

Dr. Kabambe who is also opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Presidential aspirant said the late Chisanu a true patriot Malawian.

He wrote on his Facebook page wall, “On a somber Tuesday afternoon of 2nd July, 2024 in the capital city of Lilongwe, I joined thousands of people that gathered at the Kamuzu International Airport to welcome the remains of veteran broadcaster and actor Hope Chisanu who died in the United States of America, on 1st June, 2024.

“Paying my tribute to the late Chisanu on Times TV, I highlighted late Chisanu’s dedication and passion for his profession”, reads in part Dr. Kabambe post.

He added, “Hope Chisanu was a true patriot who used his talents to not only entertain but also educate and inspire his fellow countrymen.

“Chisanu’s work in the media industry has left a lasting impact on the people of Malawi, and his presence would be sorely missed”.

Dr. Kabambe attributes, “Chisanu’s contributions to national development, both as a broadcaster and film actor, will be remembered for years to come. It is sad that we have lost such a gifted and respected personality.

“Before travelling to the US, Chisanu worked for the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation where he rose to the position of Controller of Programs responsible for Outside Broadcasting”.

The former RBM governor explains further, “In addition to his work in radio, Chisanu had also found success as a film actor, starring in several local productions including Shemu Joya’s award-winning production ‘the last Fishing Boat’, that showcased his acting talent and versatility. Till we meet again in glory”

Chisanu died on June 1, 2024 in USA that almost a month elapsed for his remains to be in Malawi.

The late Chisanu is expected to be buried at his home village at Nathenje, Lilongwe on Thursday, July 4, 2024.
