BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-In a groundbreaking move towards fostering entrepreneurship and innovation among students, FDH Bank plc has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS).

This partnership aims to provide support to students with promising post-graduation business ideas through the FDH Graduate Start Ups program.

Additionally, the MOU includes a Staff Externship Program, enabling MUBAS faculty members to undergo training at FDH Bank.

The Deputy Managing Director of FDH Bank, George Chitera, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that the FDH Graduate Start Ups program will offer loans to students who demonstrate innovative and viable business concepts.

This initiative is set to empower students to turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality, providing financial support and guidance as they navigate the world of business.

“We believe that by supporting student entrepreneurship, we are not only investing in the future of our country but also encouraging young minds to think creatively and solve real-world issues,” Chitera stated.

The collaboration between FDH Bank and Mubas comes at a crucial time when the world is facing unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The need for innovation and entrepreneurship has never been more pressing, and this partnership seeks to equip students with the tools and resources needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving economy.

Associate Professor Nancy Chitera, Vice Chancellor of Mubas, emphasized the importance of fostering a mindset shift among students, encouraging them to move away from the traditional approach of seeking employment towards creating their own opportunities.

By providing support and mentorship through initiatives like the FDH Graduate Start Ups program, MUBAS aims to inspire a new generation of business leaders who are driven by creativity and innovation.

“The collaboration with FDH Bank will not only provide financial assistance to students with entrepreneurial aspirations but also offer them access to invaluable resources and expertise,” Chitera remarked.

“We believe that by nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship within our student community, we can contribute to the economic development of Malawi and create a more prosperous future for all.”

In addition to the FDH Graduate Start Ups program, the partnership between FDH Bank and MUBAS includes the Staff Externship Program, which will allow Mubas faculty members to gain practical experience and insights from industry experts at FDH Bank.

This exchange of knowledge and expertise is expected to enhance the academic curriculum at MUBAS, ensuring that students are equipped with the latest insights and skills required to succeed in the competitive business landscape.

Overall, the collaboration between FDH Bank and MUBAS represents a significant step towards developing a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation within the academic community.

By providing students with the support and resources needed to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams, this partnership has the potential to transform the landscape of business in Malawi and create a new generation of visionary leaders.
