Jessie Kabwira, the spokesperson for the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), has expressed disappointment over the Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) claims that Dr. Lazarus Chakwera intends to steal the 2025 elections. Speaking at a recent event, Kabwira emphasized that such allegations are baseless and serve only to distract from the core issues facing the nation.
“It is regrettable to see the DPP resorting to claims of election theft when we all know that elections are determined by the people’s votes at the ballot box,” Kabwira stated. She asserted that the upcoming elections will be a fair reflection of the public’s will and that the MCP is committed to upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
Kabwira’s remarks underscore the MCP’s dedication to democratic values and transparency. She criticized the DPP for attempting to sow doubt about the legitimacy of the electoral process, reminding them that democracy thrives on participation and respect for the people’s choices. “Elections are conducted on the ground, not through baseless accusations. The DPP should focus on preparing for the election rather than making unfounded claims,” she urged.
Kabwira also called on the DPP to engage in constructive dialogue rather than resorting to fear-mongering tactics. She believes that the political discourse in Malawi should revolve around policies and plans for national development rather than accusations that detract from meaningful conversation. “As a nation, we should prioritize the issues that matter to our citizens and work together towards solutions, rather than creating divisions based on fear,” she stated.
Jessie Kabwira’s response to the DPP’s allegations reflects the MCP’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process as Malawi prepares for the 2025 elections. By emphasizing the importance of democratic principles and urging rival parties to engage in constructive dialogue, Kabwira aims to foster a political environment focused on development and progress. As the election date approaches, her statements serve as a reminder of the need for all parties to respect the will of the electorate and work towards a united Malawi.
