LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Regardless of several cash scandals across the government ministries, Malawi has no Auditor General (AG) for four years to monitor the situation.
This had been revealed on Thursday, June 2, 2022 during Public Appointments Committee (PAC) meeting with the office of the AG.
In an interview with acting AG, Thomas Makiwa said the absence of the AG is making the office work slow.
He said government should fill the post of the AG for the significant of the office and it’s progress.
Chairperson for the committee ,Joyce Chitsulo said the committee will consult with other authorities for the recommendation of the AG.
Chitsulo said their is need to amend the law that guide for the appointment of the AG.
PAC is expected to meet other committees that give oversight of the office’s welfare that the appointment of the new AG be done as soon as possible.
