LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-After a comprehensive polio vaccination campaign for Under-five children, Ministry of Health is set to embark on round one of the Polio supplementary campaign for all children from July 11 to 15, 2023.
Addressing a media orientation on Tuesday at Mponera in Dowa, Routine Immunisation Officer, Brenda Mhone said the campaign will target house to house to ensure that all children under the age of 15 years are vaccinated.
Mhone said the vaccine is safe and will be administered in the mouth.
She added that parents are advised to check with the health worker whether the child needs additional vaccination.
“Before and after Polio vaccination campaign, take your child to the nearest vaccination site for his or her regular vaccination according to the schedule on the child card,” said Mhone
In his remarks, World Health Organisation(WHO), Immunisation Officer, Dr Boston Zimba said the supplementary polio vaccine comes in as the country borders are still porous and Mozambique registered a new case.
Zimba said WHO aims at financing government to implement the vaccination campaigns.
Two months ago the ministry embarked on the first polio vaccination which targets 0 to 5 years children.
