LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malumbo Harawa, a graduate of Biochemical Engineering emerged as the overall winner in the 2022-24 Airtel Zili Mwa Ife campaign.

In total, Airtel has awarded more than MK37.5 million to the top five champions in the Zili Mwa Ife campaign, an initiative that provided funding to champions with resources to help them scale their community projects.

This comes following a rigorous screening process by judges who proceeded to select their top five individuals who were also voted by the public.

The finalists received additional cash prizes and recognition at the grand finale event on July 4, 2023, at Bingu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital Lilongwe.

Airtel’s Managing Director, Charles Kamoto lauded the finalists and nominees for their extraordinary achievements.

Kamoto also thanked the team, the judges, the production partners, the media, and the customers for their involvement and support in making the campaign a success.

He said: “We are proud of what we have achieved together, and we look forward to continuing to inspire, motivate and uplift Malawi with campaigns such as this. Remember, it’s in us to do better for ourselves and others, ZiliMwaIne, ZiliMwaInu, ZiliMwaIfe.”

According to Kamoto, “The ZiliMwaIfe campaign aligns with Airtel Malawi’s new tagline: ‘A Reason to Imagine’ which is a promise to Malawians that Airtel is here to enable your dreams, passions, and efforts, and ZiliMwaIfe has been one of Airtel’s key enablers to do that by helping you fulfill your dreams and passion for others, and for your communities.”

ZiliMwaIfe Chief Judge Wisdom Chimgwede said: “As judges, we have had the privilege of hearing
stories from these extraordinary people, and we have all been inspired by their courage, compassion, and
creativity. Their stories are reminders that we all have the power to make a difference in our
communities.”

“We would especially also like to encourage women to come out and share their stories and their valiant
works in their communities, as we believe women have so much to offer and so much to gain from being
a part of the change we want to see.”

Airtel Malawi, a leading provider of mobile services in Malawi, has celebrated the end of its MK100.5 million ZiliMwaIfe campaign, which is aimed at recognizing and rewarding Malawians who have gone out of their way to support others and their communities.

The ZiliMwaIfe campaign, which ran from September 2022 to 4 June 2023, received thousands of nominations from across the country, featuring stories of courage, creativity, and compassion from Malawians who have made a positive difference in their own lives and the lives of others.
