LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The subsidiary company of Masters Group of Companies, Masters Bakery on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 boosted the morale in the camp of the Chipiku Premier Division league outfit Combat Support Battalion FC ahead of kick off of the second round of the preliminary round of the league after donating sports equipment.
The donated sports equipment including 6 soccer balls, 16 cones,1 ladder, 12 boots, 2 sets of bibs and the rebranding of Jersey worth MK2.5 million.
Support Battalion FC is on second position with 14 points from 7 games in the 2023 Chipiku Premier division league group B,1 point adrift leaders Leyman Panthers FC which has 15 points.
Battalion FC kicks start the second round of the preliminaries against Dwangwa United FC at home on Sunday.
Speaking after the donation, the company’s head of business development and administration Christopher Njeula said associating themselves to football is one of its core pillars hence the support.
“We would like as much as possible get in touch with people who are doing business with us. We feel investing in them is one way of increasing our market base. Support Battalion FC have asked us for the new kit and we have taken that on board as the agreement has various phases hence as soon as we start our production we will continue sponsoring including buying them state of art Jerseys.
“We are sponsoring a second tie team as one way of expanding our reach as you might be aware that we are now into a bakery production so we felt it wise that lower division leagues have more followers in the rural areas hence increasing our market base”, Njeula explained.
Patrick Mwanduza who spoke on behalf of the Commanding Officer of the combat unit Lt. Col OS Kondowe hailed Masters for the timely gesture.
“I would describe this gesture as one in a million because ever since Support Battalion started we have never had support like this. This donation will take us a long way.
“The team faces many challenges to operate fully for instance equipment and fuel. If we can qualify to the elite league we will still need major partners to assist us”, said Mwanduza.
The donation took place at Combat Support Battalion Unit in Mvera, Dowa.
