Nyasa Capital Cup: Eight teams seek financial victory mid-November

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Central Region’s Nyasa Capital Finance Cup 2023 quarterfinals are set to kick off in mid-November, featuring an enticing junior derby between Kamuzu Barracks Reserve FC and Silver Strikers Reserve FC.

The quarterfinalists including Kamuzu Barracks Reserve FC, Silver Strikers Reserve FC, Blue Eagles Reserve FC, Kawinga FC, Wimbe United FC, Namitete Zitha FC, Mchinji Boma Strikers FC, and Mbabzi United FC.

The battle for semifinal slots will unfold with Blue Eagles Reserve FC facing Namitete Zitha FC at Nankhaka Stadium, Kawinga FC hosting Wimbe United FC at Mbabzi Ground, Mchinji Boma Strikers FC challenging Mbabzi United FC.

The Young Bankers taking on Kamuzu Barracks Reserve FC for a chance to secure the Nyasa Capital Finance education loan into the semifinals.

In the semifinals, matchups will include Mchinji Boma/Mbabzi United FC against Blue Eagles Reserve FC/Namitete Zitha FC, and the winner between Silver Strikers Reserve and Kamuzu Barracks Reserve FC facing off against the winner between Kawinga FC and Wimbe United FC.

The 2023 Nyasa Capital Finance Cup in the central region has witnessed 56 goals from 23 games. Notably, three games concluded with penalty shootouts: Wimbe United FC versus Simbi FC, Green Rangers FC against Mbabzi United FC, and LUANAR FC versus Mbabzi United FC.

Seven games did not take place, leading to victories awarded to the opposing sides due to their counterparts failing to show up.

Blue Eagles Reserve’s Umar Mustapha leads the top scorers’ chart with five goals. Ebenezer Mpangeni of Silver Strikers Reserve FC and Chifundo Nkhonjera of Chisomo Academy FC each have three goals, while Mathews Hamuza of Namitete Zitha FC and McDonald Chima have two goals each.

Namitete Zitha FC claimed the 2022 Championship in the central region, receiving MK1.5 million, while second-placed Extreme FC took home MK600,000.

This year’s prizes may see adjustments as the sponsorship package for the cup has increased from MK8.3 million to MK23 million.

The tournament, which commenced on October 15, 2023, is expected to conclude at the end of this month.
