Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan welcomed by Chakwera in Malawi

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Wednesday, afternoon arrived in the country through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA), for a three-day State Visit from 5-7th July, 2023.

Upon arrival, Hassan was welcomed by President Lazarus Chakwera and First Lady, Monica Chakwera, Cabinet Ministers, Senior Government Officials, and Religious and Traditional leaders, among others.

The two leaders will depart for Civic offices where President Hassan will sign the visitors’ book and will be presented with a symbolic key by the Mayor of the City of Lilongwe, Richard Banda. Later, she will proceed with a visit to Kamuzu Mausoleum where she will pay her respects to the founder of Malawi, Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda.

Hassan will also visit the Parliament building, where she will hold discussions with the Speaker of Parliament, Catherine Gotani Hara, and will later sign the visitor’s book.

During the State visit, the President of Tanzania will carry out several official engagements, including attending the national service of worship, joining President Chakwera in commemorating the 59th anniversary of independence, visiting the cyclone Freddy-affected sites, and holding bilateral talks with Chakwera on other matters of mutual interest between the two nations.
