LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-US-Malawi-based Socialite Chawezi Banda, popularly known as Cha Cha on Sunday, March 3, 2024, donated bags of maize to over 50 vulnerable households including elderly, disabled, and orphans in the outskirts of Kauma in Lilongwe.
This was part of Cha Cha’s birthday celebration of taking proactive steps to alleviate hunger among vulnerable communities.
Speaking after handing over bags of maize to the communities at Village Headman Kauma, Cha Cha’s Project Coordinator Destderous Chikhoni expects the donation to make a difference in beneficiaries’ lives.
Chikhoni said, “This charitable initiative seeks to create a positive impact on the community and address food scarcity among the elderly population.
“This is an annual event we celebrate the birthday of our sister Chakwezi we thought to support Kauma communities in Lilongwe. We expect the support to ease hunger in them”.
One of the beneficiaries, Gogo Eveness Manjawira lauded Cha Cha for the timely support.
Echoing the same, Village Headman Kauma appealed to other well-wishers for support saying his area has more vulnerable communities in dare need of food
“We thank our daughter Cha Cha for remembering my community among many in Malawi. This donation will improve beneficiaries’ hunger situation. Let other well-meaningful individuals emulate Cha Cha’s gesture”.
Cha Cha is the daughter of Malawi’s late prominent politician Aleke Banda who contributed to the country’s economic and political spheres.
