LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The late Malawi veep Saulos Chilima was a beacon of hope People hanged on to the Tonse Alliance led government through his promises and ability to stay on even though the environment looked bleak.

The Human Rights Rehabilitation Resource center (HRCC) Chairperson, Robert Mkwezalamba told The Maravi Post on Wednesday, June 3, 2024 that “Through Chilima we saw rise and turning round of political lives and more still an actual ascendancy to power in 2025.

“His departure has lowered people’s expectations in parts with others claiming they will never vote again while others wearing the armour of freedom”.

Mkwezalamba adds, “As it stands, the onus remains on each and every Malawians heart to take the dream forward, build their capacity towards self actualization, self esteem and needed growth. People must wear the responsibilities to free themselves from the York of poverty, hunger, disease and envy”.

He therefore called upon the nation to work hard in alleviating their own sufferings.

“Chilima’s departure should teach us a lesson not to invest and press all our responsibilities in one person, but ourselves and a collective community for the dreams must live on,” said Mkwezalamba.

Chilima death has attracted mixed reactions with others losing hope while some are sympathizing with UTM’s political future.

Malawians are expected to for general elections in September 2025.
