MCP elective indaba set for August 8: Chakwera already endorsed

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The governing Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has set August 8 to 10, 2024 for much awaited elective indaba at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in the capital Lilongwe.

MCP told the news conference on Saturday, June 29, that all its members wishing to contest on various positions at should start collecting nomination papers from regional chairmen effective July 1 to 15, this year.

The convention organising committee Chairperson Kezzie Msukwa said those aspiring to be the party’s president are required to pay MK5 million while first and second vice president aspirants should pay K2.5 million nomination fee.

Those aspiring to be secretary general and treasurer general there nomination fee is K2 million while their first and second deputies K1 million.

As for those aspiring to be directors in the party the nomination fee is MK500,000.

“We have changed the way we are making the convention announcement as we have not indicated the theme of the conversation in respect to the mourning period,” said Msukwa.

Msukwa hinted that the party leader Lazarus Chakwera has already endorsed as MCP Presidential candidate for 2024 General Elections.
