Why Abida Mia fits for MCP second Veep President post?

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The flamboyant female politician who is also Malawi Congress Party (MCP) legislator for Chikwawa Mkombezi has declared interest to as the party’s Second Vice president during the forthcoming elective convention.

MCP elective indaba is slated for August 8 to 15, 2024 at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in the capital Lilongwe.

After declaring interest to stand for the party’s second vice president position, The Maravi Post caught up with Abida Mia who is also Water and Sanitation Minister to explain why she is fit for the post..

What impact will you bring to party once voted into this position?

Response: If elected as the second Vice President, the people can expect me to be a strong advocate for their needs and concerns. My extensive experience in the SDG’s since the beginning of my political Career has given me a deep understanding of the challenges faced by communities, and I will use this knowledge to ensure that their voices are heard and their priorities are addressed. And this should tell you that am loyal and trusted person to help the president in running the affairs of the party and Excel in the country.

As a seasoned leader within the MCP, I have built strong connections with the people and will leverage these relationships to foster open communication and collaboration for the party and maintain its legacy. I will work tirelessly to find practical solutions to the issues that matter most to the party and those of the citizens, such as improving access to clean water, upgrading sanitation facilities, and promoting sustainable water management practices, promoting human rights, freedom among others.

Furthermore, I will bring a collaborative and inclusive approach to the leadership team in the party, fostering a culture of mutual respect and shared responsibility to show that atleast everyone has something to do and should be respected. I believe in the power of teamwork and will work closely with the President and other party officials to develop and implement a comprehensive vision for the country’s development.

Why are you vying for this position and what motivated you?

Response: I am motivated to stand for the second Vice President position because I firmly believe that it is time for a change. The political landscape in our country has been dominated by male leaders for far too long, and I am ready to challenge that status quo.

As a woman with a proven track record of leadership and accomplishment, I am confident in my ability to contribute meaningfully to the party’s vision and to serve the people effectively. My decision to run is not driven by gender alone, but by a deep-seated conviction that I possess the necessary skills, experience, and commitment to make a positive impact in this role.

Throughout my career, I have faced numerous challenges and obstacles, but I have never been deterred that is what a leader should do, a leader never quits for his/her people. I have used these experiences to strengthen my resolve and to become an even more effective leader. I am motivated by a desire to inspire other women and to pave the way for future generations of female leaders in our country.

I am not standing for this position simply because I am a woman, but because I know that I have the necessary qualifications and the drive to make a real difference. I am committed to working tirelessly to address the needs of the people and to help our party achieve its goals for the betterment of our nation.
